Mobile Advocacy Services in the 9TH Congressional District of Illinois. - in Mobile Advocacy Services, Apna Ghar Will Create and Deploy a Mobile Mental Health Service Delivery Unit to Perform Community Outreach and Provide Mental Health Advocacy, Including Case Management Services, to Marginalized Persons Residing Throughout the 9TH Illinois Congressional District. the Primary Population Served Under This Project Are Immigrants and Refugees From South Asia Residing in the Rogers Park Neighborhood of Chicago, Although Apna Ghar Will Deploy Throughout All Catchment Areas Within the 9TH District. Through This Specially Trained Mobile Unit, Apna Ghar Expects to Provide 150 Marginalized Persons With Case-management Services and Reach 1,000 Community Members Directly With Information About Apna Ghar and Other Service Providers. Most Especially, Apna Ghar Will Provide Survivors of Gender-based Violence (GBV) With Services and Inform Them of Available Services. Immigrant Survivors Are Frequently Reluctant to Seek Assistance Because of Linguistic, Cultural, and Legal Barriers. Mobility Can Also Present a Challenge to Seeking Assistance for Survivors. They May Reside With Their Abuser and Feel Unable to Speak on the Telephone Within Their Homes or Leave Their Homes for an Extended Period of Time Safely. to Overcome These Barriers, Apna Ghar Will Send Out Its Culturally Competent Case Management Team Throughout the Target Area and Directly Connect Persons in Need to Emergency Shelter With Case Management, Legal Advocacy, Counseling, and Other Wrap Around Services to Help Reclaim and Rebuild Their Lives.
