Brief Description of the Target Population: (1) All Residents of Wilson County Who Are at Risk for, Have Been Diagnosed With, And/or Are in Treatment And/or Recovery for Sud/oud And/or Co-occurring Mental Disorders; (2) Their Families And/or Caregivers; and (3) Other Impacted Community Members Who Reside in Wils on County. Special Attention Will Be Given the Following Sub-populations: Children, Ages 0-14; Youth/young Adults, Ages 15-24; Health Disparity Populations - Native Americans Make Up 0.6% of the Population. Though African Americans and Hispanics Make Up the Greatest Proportion, All Racial/ethnic Minority Groups Will Be a Focus; Socioeconomically Disadvantaged Populations; Justice-involved Individuals the Wilson County Department of Social Services (wcdss), on Behalf of the County of Wilson, Proposes the Wilson County Rural Communities Opioid Response Program - Behavioral Health Support (rcorp-bhs) Initiative. Wcdss Has a Strong Reputation and a Long History of Active Participation in Local and Regional Consortiums, and Implementation of Federal, State, and Local Grant Initiatives. Combined With Staff Experience and Knowledge of the Full Continuum of Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Prevention, Treatment, and Recovery, Wcdss Is Well Prepared to Improve Access to and Quality of Sud and Other Behavioral Health Care Services Through the Initiative. the Goal of the Initiative Is to Expand Upon the Activities and Success of the County’s Rcorp-implementation Initiative by Addressing (1) Substance Use in Addition to Opioids, Including Polysubstance Use and Psychostimulants, (2) Co-occurring Mental Health Conditions, and (3) the Effects of Trauma on Future Substance Use. This Overarching Goal Encompasses the Goals of the Rcorp-bhs Program. Wcdss Will Approach Rcorp Activities by (1) Building Upon the Community’s Extensive Experience to Grow Existing Initiatives at the Local, State, and Federal Level, (2) Using Available Resources to Support the Knowledge, Buy-in, and Expertise to Meet the Prevention, Treatment, and Recovery Needs of Wilson County, and (3) Increasing the Capacity of the Consortium to Serve as a Convener That Can Be a Responsive and Effective Source for Problem Solving.
