Application Purpose: the Cat Administration and Maintenance Facility Is Located at 8300 Radio Road Naples FL. the Facility Currently Houses the Transit Administration Offices Maintenance Area and a Passenger Transfer Center. It Is a Multimodal Facility That Serves Buses Passenger Cars Pedestrians and Bicycles. the Maintenance Facility Is a Prefabricated Steel Building That Was Constructed in 1985. Due to the Age of the Facility and the Fact That Less Restrictive Building Codes Were in Place at the Time of Construction the Building Is Susceptible to Complete Destruction During Inclement Weather. During the Last Hurricane the Structural Integrity of the Maintenance Building Was Severely Tested With Damages Sustained to the Roof and Exterior Wall Membrane of the Facility. Without the Maintenance Building the Transit System Would Be Very Vulnerable. Funding Is Needed to Refurbish/rebuild and Expand With Furnishings the Aging Maintenance Building Optimizing Available Space for Effective Operational Use Built to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Standards; and Update With State-of-the-art Equipment to Accommodate Innovative Mobility Service to the Community. in Addition Collier County Is Requesting Funding to Purchase Buses and Introducing Electric Buses Into the Fleet That Would Also Function as Back Power to Emergency Facilities in the Event of Emergencies; and Installation of Solar Panels That Will Be a Positive Impact on the Environment But Also Provide Back Up Energy for the Maintenance Facility and Shade for Buses. the Ptne Division and the Collier County Facilities Management Division Will Provide Oversight and Project Management Following the Fta Grant Award for This Project. the Federal Grant Amount Requested Is $9020000 (D2020-BUSC-113). the Current Project Total Is $11275000. the 20% Required Matching Share for the Project Is Being Provided in Part by Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Transportation Development Credits (TDC) in the Amount of $225500.; Activities Performed: the Proposed Grant Includes the Following Components:upgrade and Expand the Existing Maintenance Facility Optimizing Available Space for Effectiveoperational Use Built to Leed Standard Equip Maintenance Bays With State-of-the-art Devises Tomaintain a Sustainable Fleet Including Electric Vehicles;purchase Expansion Buses Including 2 Electric Buses That Would Also Function as Back Power Toemergency Facilities in the Event of Emergencies;solar Canopies to Energize the Maintenance Facility and Provide Shade for Buses; House a Bussimulatortraining Component to Enhance Operator Safety;incorporate a Digital Think Room as a Business Intelligence (BL) Tool to Utilize and Analyze Datato Improve Access and Mobility by Increased Reliability Improved Headways Creation of Newtransportation Choices or Eliminating Gaps in the Current Route Network; and Promote the Efficientuse of Energy With Bi-directional Electric Vehicle Charging Systems.; Expected Outcomes: the Expansion of the Maintenance Facility Will Improve the Ability to Provide Continuous Service of Thefleet to Operate the Transit System.the Project Will Result in a Cost Savings to the County With a Return on the Investment in 10 Years. the Lifeof the Building Will Be Extendedfor Another 30 Years.maximizing the Space to Better Accommodate Staffing and Training Room Will Allow Staff to Be Placed in Abetter Area Based on Their Functions.centralizing Some of the Functions of the Employees Will Provide for Improved Internal Operations Better Communication and Coordination.the Improvements for the Training Room Will Be an Immediate Return on the Investment Because Theenhanced Training Will Result in an Immediatecorrection of Operational Safety. the Reduction in Incidents and Accidents Will Be Immeasurable.this Grant Will Allow for the Purchase of 6 Buses and Will Improve the Overall Condition of Cats Transit Fleet. With These Assetsthe Percentage of the Fleet That Has Surpassed Their Useful Life Will Be Reduced From 72% to 42%. Thiswill Result in a Reduction in Maintenance Cost by 16% and Fuel Cost Due to the Electric Buses. Service Reliability Will Improve With a Reduction in Thenumber of Breakdowns and Other Maintenanceservice Interruptions With the Enhancement of the Aging Bus Fleet. the Fleet Reduces the Current Averageage of the Spare Buses to 9 Yearsand 590000 Miles. the Purchase of Electrical Buses Cat Will Improve Fuel Efficiency and Environmental Quality.; Intended Beneficiaries: Collier County and Its Residents.; Subrecipient Activities: None
