Purpose: Purpose in Response to Community Need for Fair Housing Education and Increased Public Awareness of Fair Housing Law, Greenville County Human Relations Commission (GCHRC) Will Provide a Comprehensive Fair Housing Education and Outreach Program That Incorporates In-person and Virtual Learning Opportunities for At-risk Community Groups, Mass Media Psas Through Radio, a Podcast Series, Social Media, and Digital Billboards, and Targeted Outreach to Developers, Disability Support Organizations, and Housing Industry Professionals to Increase Knowledge and Understanding of Fair Housing in Our Region. Gchrc Will Also Conduct Intake of Fair Housing Allegations and Inquiries and Refer Suspected Violations of Fair Housing Law to Hud or to the State Fhap as Appropriate.; Activities to Be Performed: Activities to Be Performed Gchrc Will Provide Fair Housing Education and Outreach to Include the Following Activities During the Proposed Grant Period: a. Homebuyer Education Classes With an Emphasis on Fair Housing, Predatory Lending, Mortgage Rescue Scam Abuse, and Lending Discrimination (goal: 11 in English, 1 in Spanish) B. Fair Housing Workshops Targeted to At-risk Groups and Covering Fair Housing Law, Rights, Resources, and Local Case Studies (goal: 11 in English, 1 in Spanish) C. Targeted Outreach to Developers & Disability Support Groups to Promote Universal Design, Disability Standards, Reasonable Accommodations, and Aging in Place (goal: 6 Developers, 3 Disability Support Groups) D. Direct Mail Campaign and Fair Housing Literature Distribution to Publicize Gchrc’s Fair Housing Resources & Services (goal: 1,250 Pieces) E. Media Campaign to Increase Public Awareness of Fair Housing Law (goal: 250 Radio Psas, 6 Podcast Episodes, and 1-MONTH Digital Billboard Campaign) F. Fair Housing Month Symposium for Housing Industry Professionals to Improve Knowledge and Understanding of Fair Housing Law and Local Fair Housing Resources (goal: 1 Event Serving 100 Attendees); Expected Outcomes: Expected Outcomes for the Grant Period Include an Improvement in Area Residents’ and Housing Industry Professionals’ Knowledge and Understanding of Fair Housing Laws and Rights as Well as Available Local Resources to Provide Fair Housing Technical Assistance and Fair Housing Counseling. This Outcome Will Be Measured by Increases in Knowledge as Measured by Evaluation Instruments for Specific Program Participants, Including the Following: • the Number of Participants Who Improve Their Understanding of Fair Housing Through Gchrc’s Homebuyer Education Classes (goal: 75) • the Number of Spanish-speaking Participants Who Improve Their Understanding of Fair Housing Through Gchrc’s Spanish-language Homebuyer Education Class (goal: 5) • the Number of Participants Who Increase Their Knowledge of Fair Housing Through Gchrc’s Fair Housing Month Symposium Event (goal: 100) • the Number of Non-english Speaking Persons Who Receive Fair Housing Counseling (goal: 40) • the Number of Developers Who Increase Their Knowledge of Universal Design and Disability Standards (goal: 6) • the Number of Disability Support Organizations Who Increase Their Knowledge of Fair Housing and Accessible Housing (goal: 3); Intended Beneficiaries: Intended Beneficiaries Gchrc Will Provide Fair Housing Outreach, Education, and Information to Upstate Residents With an Emphasis on Traditionally Underserved Populations, Including Persons With Physical and Mental Disabilities, Immigrants and Other Individuals With Limited English Proficiency, and Minorities With Low-to-moderate Income Levels. in Addition, Persons Subject to Predatory Lending Practices, Prospective Homebuyers, and Persons in Need of Foreclosure Prevention Counseling Will Be Served.; Subrecipient Activities: None
