The Department of Defense Has Allocated Funds to the Fish Wildlife Service for Restoration-focused Projects on Army Installations, Including Fort Mccoy, Focusing on Habitat Restoration, Invasive Species Removal, and Urban Wildlife Conservation.fort Mccoy Is Managing Over 40 Invasive Species, Aiming to Eradicate Those Not Yet Established and Reduce Established Species to Preserve the Ecosystem While Allowing Military Training. After Spending One Year Serving on Various Fort Mccoy Projects, a Second One-year Project in Partnership With Wiscorps Will Enhance Our Efforts to Manage Invasive Species. Wiscorps Will Again Recruit Americorps Field Crews, Aged 18-30, to Conduct Invasive Species Management Including Herbicide Application and Chainsaw Work for Five Weeks, Starting in Summer 2025.FOUNDED in 2009, Wiscorps Is a 501(C)(3) Conservation Organization That Engages Youth in Conservation Projects Across the Upper Midwest. Since 2013, Wiscorps Has Been an Americorps Program, Providing Hands-on Experiences That Foster Leadership and Environmental Stewardship. After Completing the Projects at Fort Mccoy, Ongoing Invasive Species Management Will Be Conducted by Colorado State University Employees Through a Cesu Agreement.
