This Project Is in Northeastern Nevada in the Toano Mountain Range. It Also Falls Within the Area 7 Mule Deer Migration Corridor. the Area 7 Mule Deer Migration Is One of the Longest Deer Migration Routes in Nevada. Deer Face Several Challenges on Their Route From Summer to Winter Range Including Fence Crossings, Habitat Conditions, and Road Crossings. Nevada S So 3362 Action Plan Identifies Pinyon-juniper Encroachment as One of the Three Major Threats to the Area 7 Deer Population and Identifies 7,800 Acres of Juniper Removal as a Conservation Need for the Toano Range. This Project Directly Addresses This Threat by Working With a Private Landowner to Remove Phase One Pinyon-juniper Throughout 300 Acres in the Toano Range by Hand-thinning With Chainsaws. This Project Will Benefit Both Mule Deer and Sage Grouse.this Project Will Achieve Doi Proposed Strategic Objective 3.3 Restore Lands and Waters by Decreasing Ladder Fuels Which Wildfires Spread Rapidly Through. It Will Also Achieve Objective 4.2 Work Collaboratively With States, Partners, and Governments by Working Collaboratively Between a Private Landowner and the Service. Lastly, This Project Supports Sec. 3 of the Empowering Commonsense Wildfire Prevention and Response Executive Order.
