This Project Is Located at Guadalupe Nipomo Dunes National Wildlife Refuge (REFUGE) in San Luis Obispo County, California. the Refuge Is Part of the 18-MILE-LONG Guadalupe-nipomo Dunes Complex (complex) Along the Central Coast of California. Invasive Plant Species Are Considered the Biggest Threat to the Specialized Habitats Within the Complex. Regional Infestation of European Beachgrass Is Causing a Type Conversion of Coastal Dune Scrub Habitats to Non-native, Perennial Grassland That Stabilizes the Dynamic and Active Dune System. Stabilization of the Dunes Disrupts the Natural Ecosystem Functions and Geomorphic Processes, Causing a Cascade of Detrimental Effects. the Objective of This Project Is to Spot Treat Up to 62 Acres for European Beachgrass in Phase III.1 for One Year and Conduct 3 Treatments Over 2-3 Years for Up to 43 Acres of European Beachgrass in Phase Iii. This Project Will Achieve Objectives Outlined in the Department of Interior Draft Strategic Plan. It Will Achieve Objective 3.4, Species and Natural Resources Are Protected, by Managing Invasive Species Using Herbicide. It Will Achieve Objective 4.2, Work Collaboratively With States, Partners, and Governments, 2 by Supporting Public-private Partnerships.
