Golden Eagles Aquila Chrysaetos Are an Apex Predator Federally Protected Under the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act. in the U.s. Golden Eagles Are Found Primarily in the Western States and Alaska. the U.s. Fish and Wildlife Service Usfws Has Identified Energy Development Anthropogenic Sources of Mortality and Habitat Alteration as Potential Sources of Mortality to Golden Eagles and Has Declared an Urgent Need for New Information and Analysis Tools to Support Eagle Conservation Programs. the Usfws Previously Funded Breeding Habitat Models for the Western U.s. But Not for Alaska. Abr Inc. Environmental Research Services Abr Will Produce Breeding Habitat Models for Alaska and Create a Report Detailing the Methods and Results. the Model Will Use Nest Site Locations From Intensively Surveyed Areas and Environmental Variables for Climate Topography and Habitat to Predict Suitable Nesting Habitat. Model Results Will Be Projected Outside of Survey Areas to Predict the Distribution and Abundance of Additional Suitable Nesting Habitat Across Portions of Alaska or Across the Entirety of the State. Results May Be Used to Extrapolate Nest and Suitable Nesting Habitat Densities to Predict the Nesting Population Size in Portions of or All of Alaska. the Usfws Will Be Able to Submit This Report for Publication in a Peer Reviewed Journal.
