Golden Triangle RCD Will Be Leading an Effort to Restore Both Coastal and Stream Habitats in the Southeast United States. Specifically, Restore Dune Habitats Impacted by Hurricane Michael on Tyndall Air Force Base and Restore Stream Habitats Through Streambank Stabilization in the Chipola River and Dam Removal Projects in Alabama. Dune Restoration Will Involve a Combination of Revegetation of Native Plant Species, Placement of Artificial Wrack at the Base of Plantings, and Construction of Sand Fencing to Promote Sand Entrapment and Establishment of Native Dune Building Vegetation. Stream Restoration Will Include: 1) Restoration of Streambanks 2) New Channel Construction 3) Stabilization of Unpaved Roads and 4) Fish Passage Through the Dam Removal, Low Water Crossings, and Culvert Replacement. These Projects Are Expected to Benefit Federally Listed and At-risk Species. Approximately Three Stream Projects and Five Miles of Dune Habitats Will Be Completed With Funding Provided by FWS.
