Timber Thinning Operations May Impact Federally Listed and Proposed Threatened Andendangered Bat Species. Presence Probable Absence Surveys Will Inform Tree Clearing Restrictions and Orconservation Actions Required Prior to Beginning Timber Thinning Operations. Environmental Solutions Innovations, Inc. (ESI) Will Conduct Acoustic Surveys Following the 2024 Range-wide Indiana Bat Northernlongeared Bat Survey Guidelines (guidelines) Within the Proposed Timber Thinning Areas on the Fort Jacksonmilitary Installation During the 2024 Summer Season (15 May - 15 August). Additionally, Fort Jackson Wildlifebranch Personnel Are Interested in a Broad-scale Forest-wide Understanding of Bat Species and Their Habitat Use(with a Focus on Federally Listed and Proposed Threatened and Endangered Species) Throughout the Installation.esi Will Follow Standardized Acoustic Survey Protocols Outlined in the North American Bat Monitoring Program(nabat) to Conduct Mobile Transect Acoustic Surveys and Stationary Acoustic Surveys. Further, Esi Will Conductmist Net Surveys to Capture Bats and Adhere Radio Transmitters to Target Species(tricolored Bat Perimyotissubflavus , Little Brown Bat Myotis Lucifugus , Northern Long-eared Bat M. Septentrionalis , Rafinesques Bigearedbat Corynorhinus Rafinesquii , and Southeastern Bat M. Austroriparius ) in Efforts to Locate Tree Roosts.roost Characteristics Will Be Quantified and Emergence Count Surveys Will Occur at All Located Roosts Except Fortricolored Bat (as Recommended by the Guidelines). Data From These Surveys Are Expected to Inform Conservationand Management Actions Conducted by the Fort Jackson Military Installation Wildlife Branch Personnel.additionally, All Data Will Be Submitted to the Nabat Partner Portal Where Data Is Collectively Used With Otherpartner Submitted Data to Contribute to Long-term Monitoring and Trend Analysis for North American Bat Species.
