This Project Is a Partnership Between the Kenai Peninsula Borough (KPB) and the U.s. Fish and Wildlife (USFWS) That Will Result in Planning, Design, and Construction of Two High Priority Fish Passage Restoration Projects in the Deep Creek Watershed. the Purpose of This Project Is to Provide Fish Passage to High Priority Salmon Species by Replacing Priority Culverts That Are Currently Fish Passage Barriers With Properly Sized and Engineered Structures Allowing Passage for All Life Stages of Priority Salmon Species. These Sites Provide Seasonal Rearing Habitat for Juvenile Salmon. During the 2024 Field Seasons, We Anticipate KPB Will Prepare and Manage the Bid Process for Design and Construction. KPB Agrees to Utilize Contracted Services to Assist in Planning, Surveying, Design, and Construction of Properly Sized Culverts to Facilitate Fish Passage in Order Tofulfill the Goals and Needs of This Agreement.the Culverts Will Be Constructed to Current Usfws Fish Passage Standards That Mimic Natural Stream Characteristics. Stream Crossings Will Be Designed, Constructed, and Maintained to Provide Proper Hydrologic Functioning of the Water Body They Are Crossing, Including Connectivity of Wetlands and Riparian Areas Adjacent to Stream Channels to the Greatest Extent Possible.
