This Project a Third Phase of the Mijo Project, Which Has Been Developed Since 2017 by Fonnor in Collaboration With the National Forestry Commission(conafor), the World Wide Fund for Nature (wwf-mexico) and the Secretariat of Environment and Territorial Development of the Government of the State of Jalisco (semadet), With the Support of Usfws.the Jaguar (panthera Onca) in Mexico Is a Priority Species for Conservation as It Is Considered Endangered , So It Is Important to Carry Out and Promote Activities That Favor Its Conservation. One of the Five Most Important Corridors for Maintaining Connectivity Between Jaguar Populations in Mexico Is the Western Corridor. in This Area the North Pacific and Central Pacific Regions Converge and Coincide With the Core Area of the Northwestern Recovery Unit (NRU) Identified in the Jaguar Recovery Plan of the U.s. Fish and Wildlife Service (usfws 2018).THE Mijo Has Dedicated Itself to Developing Activities to Promote Conservation, Monitoring and Awareness of the Jaguar and Its Habitat in Three Areas of the Biodiversity Endowment Fund (BEF) (conservation Program Based on Economic Incentives): Sierra De Cacoma, Sierra De Acaponeta, and Costa Norte, Located Within the Jaguar S Western Corridor.in This Third Phase, Our Goal Is That the Communities That Inhabit the Jaguar Corridor in Western Mexico Coexist in Harmony With the Jaguar. for This We Will Carry Out Various Activities Focused on 4 Lines of Action: 1) Management of the Livestock-jaguar Conflict in Natural Protected Areas and the Three Bef Areas, 2) Sustainable Use and Connectivity in the Western Jaguar Corridor, 3) Empowerment of Communities in Biodiversity Conservation and Monitoring Activities and 4) Sensitization of Inhabitants of Rural and Urban Communities of Influence for the Conservation of the Jaguar and Its Habitat.the Lines of Action Include a Series of Activities That Are Aligned With Strategies Proposed in the Jaguar Recovery Plan of the United States and With the Action Plan for the Conservation of the Species (pace): Jaguar in Mexico. the Activities Will Continue to Strengthen the Previous Efforts of Mijo in the 3 Areas of Intervention of the Bef to Achieve the Consolidation of a Culture of Action in Favor of the Jaguar in the Western Corridor, Also the Area of Intervention of the Project Will Be Expanded Towards the Area of Sierra De Vallejo-ro Ameca Natural Resource Protection Area, Marismas Nacionales Nayarit Biosphere Reserve and Sierra De Manantln Biosphere Reserve, Which Border the Bef Areas and Form Part of the Western Jaguar Corridor.the Results of This Project Will Make Possible to Increase the Effort to Reduce the Cattle-jaguar Conflict in the Region, It Will Promote the Conservation of Natural Resources and Landscape Connectivity, It Will Strengthen Community Monitoring Brigades in the Identification of Jaguars and the Compilation of Information, and Carry Out Activities That Make It Possible to Sensitize a Greater Number of People Through the Training of Local Personnel and the Design of Dissemination Materials. in the Same Way, We Will Be Carrying Out Follow-up Activities to the Efforts Made in Mijo 2, and We Will Implement Surveys Before and After Carrying Out Various Activities in Order to Evaluate the Impact That Is Being Had on People.thanks to the Mijo Project, the Inhabitants of the Ejidos and Communities Will Have the Necessary Sensitivity and Knowledge Necessary to Develop Activities With a Genuine Interest in the Conservation of Ecosystems and Their Biodiversity, Thus Promoting a Harmonious Coexistence With the Jaguar in the Habitat That Is Shared in Western Mexico.
