This Proposal Describes River Partners Approach for Improving Salmon and Steelhead Juvenile Rearing Habitat Through Creation and Restoration of Up to Five Miles of Side Channels on the Lower Feather River Where Such Habitat Is Very Limited.this Project Will Create New Side Channel Areas at Two (2) Individual Project Locations on Adjacent Properties (north-to-south) Known as: (1) Garden Highway Mutual Water Company (GHMWC) Landowner Group and (2) Audubons Bobelaine Sanctuary. Although River Partners Does Not Anticipate Constructing Any Projects at the Adjacent California Department of Fish and Wildlifes Nelson Slough Unit of the Feather River Wildlife Area, We Will Consider Adding the Nelson Slough Unit in the Planning Boundary to Identify Any Potential Side Channel or Floodplain Reconnection Options for Future Projects.each Project Location Will Restore Historic Side Channels and Reconnect These Channels to Adjacent Floodplain Areas to Improve Much Needed Juvenile Rearing Habitat for Salmon and Steelhead Along the West Side of the Lower Feather River. This Project Meets the Central Valley Improvement Act (CVPIA) Objectives of Increasing Natural Production and Increasing Spatial Diversity of These Target Species: Fall-run, Spring-run Chinook Salmon and Steelhead.to Meet This Objective River Partners Plans to Implement the Following Actions (project):restore Historic Feather River Side Channels and Modify Existing Side Channels to Create and Improve Rearing Habitats for the Juvenile Salmonids in the Lower Feather River Andenhance Floodplain Habitat Through the Connection of These New and Restored Side Channel Areas to the Lower Feather River Floodplain.
