Information Required for Effective Management of Rails, Snipes, Coots, and Gallinules Is Collected Annually Throughout the Developed, Southern Portion of Ontario, Canada. by Contrast, Collection of These Important Data Is Entirely Lacking for These Species in the Less-developed Central and Northern Portions of Ontario Due to Logistical Challenges. This Project Fills This Knowledge Gap by Implementing the Ontario Breeding Bird Atlas Marshbird Survey, a Collaborative 5-YEAR Project (20212025) Co-delivered by Birds Canada, Which Will Complete the Required Surveys Throughout Ontario. the Information Collected by the Project Will Be Immediately Useful for a Variety of Conservation Initiatives, Including Species-at-risk Status Assessments by the Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada, Strategic Planning by the Eastern Habitat Joint Venture, and Assessments by the National Marshbird Monitoring Program.
