With Increasing Restoration and Other Habitat Enhancement Opportunities (including on Agricultural and Tribal Lands) Occurring Across Ecosystems in Washington State, an Adequate and Equitable Supply of Plant Materials Is Essential. Usfws and Partners Have Identified the Need for a State-wide Seed Coordinator to Help Identify, Build, and Coordinate Regional Priorities and Partnerships to Optimize Seed Production and Purchasing and Manage Sourcing Issues. This Project Continues Usfws Implementation of the National Seed Strategy by Working to Put Seed Collecting Teams on the Ground, Investing in Seed Production, and Improving Ecoregional and National Coordination Within Our Agency, and Supports Efforts to Coordinate Across Usfws-administrative Units and With Other Agencies, as Well as Private, State, and Tribal Land Managers, as Appropriate. the Goal of This Project Over the Next Two Years Is to Support a 0.5 Fte Washington Native Seed Coordinator Position to Develop and Facilitate the Partnerships Needed to Create a State-wide Ecoregional Native Seed Strategy This Will Complete a 1 Fte Position, in Conjunction With an Already-funded 0.5 Fte Western Washington Seed Coordinator Position. During This Period the Project Will Focus on at Least Four Objectives: 1) Build State-wide and Regional Native Seed Partnerships 2) Develop a Database of Growers and Facilities in Washington 3) Develop a Database of Partners by Ecoregion and 4). Document and Collect Essential Information for the Creation of a State-wide Washington Native Seed Strategy.
