The Funds Requested for This Project Will Be Used for a Landowner Agreement. No Cooperators Will Beinvolved, and No Indirect Rate Charged. the Project Area Is Directly Adjacent to the Wood Riverapproximately a Mile South of the Town of Fort Klamath. We Have Already Funded Riparian Fencing Andinstream Structure on This Property That Will Be Completed Spring and Summer 2023 Using a Cooperativeagreement With Trout Unlimited. This Project Is an Extension of That Project and Adds to Conservationvalue in This Region of the Wood River. We Aim to Increase Wetland Size From 1.5 to 4 Acres and Improvemanagement Capability to Benefit Waterbirds and Oregon Spotted Frog. Currently, There Is an Artesianwell That Fills an Existing Wetland Area and Follows a Ditch Directly Into the Wood River. the Currentflow Path Is Eroding the Wood River Stream Bank. We Will Plug the Ditch Currently Draining the Wetlandand Pipe the Water Through a Water Control Structure to a Drained Wetland Approximately 100 Yards to Thesouth (see Figures). We Will Install a Ditch Plug in the Wetland to the South and Rout the Water Through Awater Control Structure and Pipe to a Riparian Wet Meadow Area to the West (see Figures). This Wetlandsystem Will Compliment Another Wetland System on the Neighbors Property to the South (whom We Arecurrently Working With) and Contribute to a Larger Complex of Wetlands Within the Wood River Valley.species Expected to Benefit From This Are Native Waterbirds and Threatened Oregon Spotted Frog.monitoring for Oregon Spotted From Was Initiated in Spring 2023 and Will Continue Through the Projectperiod. Monitoring for Water Birds, Specifically Yellow Rail Will Begin Spring Summer 2024.
