The Southern New England Coastal Program (SNEP) Will Be Hiring a Hispanic Access Foundation Intern to Support Priorities of the Field Office. Snep Is One of 24 Coastal Program Offices in the United States, Established by the U.s. Fish Wildlife Service (service) to Build Partnerships to Identify, Protect and Restore Nationally Significant Habitat for Fish, Wildlife and People. the Staff in the Snep Office Primarily Concentrate Their Conservation Efforts in Coastal Areas of Four States Where They Complement the Work of Other Programs Within the Service While Also Working in Close Partnership With Conservation Partners. the Wide Variety of Habitats, Species, and Partners That Are Addressed in the Snep Office Will Provide a Diversity of Opportunities for an Intern to Explore Different Aspects of the Conservation Field. While There Are Some Core Projects the Intern Will Be Focusing on That Support the Providence Urban Wildlife Refuge Partnership and the Schoolyard Habitat Program, We Look Forward to Accommodating the Specific Interests and Skillset(s) of the Candidate and Welcome Their Assistance on Any Projects That Interest Them. the Intern Will Primarily Focus on 1) Community Engagement and Outreach, 2) Urban Habitat Restoration, 3) Environmental Education, and 4) Assisting in Coordinating and Facilitating Events Associated With the Vamos a Pescar Take Me Fishing Series Throughout the State. Tasks Will Include, But Are Not Limited to: Working With K-12 Public Schools and Partners to Assist With the Implementation of the Learning Inside Out Initiative. Assist With Identifying and Building Relationships With Community Collaborators for the Narducci Learning Center Schoolyard Habitat Co-design Project, Including Planning and Hosting Community Events, Developing and Evaluating Surveys, and Providing Technical Assistance in Project Planning and Design. Coordinating Pre-arranged Bilingual Fishing Events Throughout the Summer, Including During Latino Conservation Week. This Position Will Also Have Opportunities to Shadow Service Staff for Field Work Associated With Various Habitat Restoration and Wildlife Biology Projects. Additional Tasks That May Be Offered Based on the Specific Interests and Skills of the Intern Include But Are Not Limited to: Assisting With Salt Marsh Habitat and Bird Surveys in CT and Ny Conducting Acoustic Bat Surveys and Assisting With Data Analysis Assisting With the Transport and Monitoring of New England Cottontail Rabbits Participating in Surveys of the Federally Threatened American Burying Beetle on Block Island and or Nantucket
