The Centerton Lake Dam Was Lowered in December 2009 by Order of Njdep Dam Safety as It Was Critically Weakened by Torrential Rain. the Dam Breached on August 14, 2011, Resulting in Severe Erosion of the Embankment. the Impoundment Remains in a Lowered Condition and There Continues to Be a Small Difference in Water Surface Elevation (1 2 Feet) Upstream and Downstream of the Dam. Citizens United to Protect the Maurice River and Its Tributaries, Inc. (cu Maurice River) Has Been Working to Connect the Landowners, a Homeowners Association, With Resources for the Eventual Removal of the Extant Structure. While Funding Resources Exist for a Future Removal Project, First a Feasibility Study Needs to Be Rendered in Order to Secure Said Funding. the Centerton Lake Dam Is a Blockage for Diadromous Fish From Reaching Historic Spawning and Rearing Grounds.
