The Rio Grande Joint Venture (RGJV) Is a Public-private Partnership of Organizations and Individualscollaborating on Strategic Conservation of Birds and Their Habitats. We Work in the Chihuahuan Desert Andtamaulipan Brushlands Bird Conservation Regions of Texas and Northern Mexico, and the Gulf Coastal Prairie Birdconservation Region in Mexico. by Cooperating to Ensure That the Ecosystems Across the Binational RGJV Geographysupport Thriving and Diverse Communities of Birds, Other Wildlife, and People Into the Future, the RGJV Partnersdirectly and Efficiently Support the U.s. Fish and Wildlife Service's (USFWS) Priorities for Its Migratory Birdmanagement Program.the RGJV Is Governed by a Management Board Chaired by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) and Withrepresentation From Usfws, National Park Service, Natural Resources Conservation Service, Comision Nacional Deareas Naturales Protegidas, Comision Nacional Para El Conocimiento Y Uso De La Biodiversidad, Bird Conservancy Ofthe Rockies, Pronatura Noreste, American Bird Conservancy, Dixon Water Foundation, the Nature Conservancy,audubon Texas, Ducks Unlimited Mexico, World Wildlife Fund, and Pasticultores Del Desierto, A.c. the RGJV Alsohas Two Technical Teams With Representation From These Organizations, as Well as Private Landowners,corporations, and Universities. Thanks to the Work of Existing and New Staff, and All of Our Partners, the Rgjvis Ramping Up to Build Significantly on Progress Achieved Over the Past Few Years.since 2008, the RGJV Management Board, Other Partners, and Staff Have Achieved Long-term and Lasting Conservationgains for Priority Birds, Pollinators, and Other Wildlife by Coordinating Their Efforts to Achieve More Togetherthan Any Organization Could Achieve Alone. the RGJV Is Integrating Biological Planning, Conservation Design Andconservation Delivery, Including Financial and Technical Assistance to Land and Water Stewards, With Monitoringat Large Scales to Enable Our Partners to Leverage Conservation Investments and Increase Efficiency Andeffectiveness. the Investments by All the Partners of the RGJV Contribute to the Usfws's Ability to Meet Theirtrust Responsibilities, Natural Resource Management Priorities, and International Treaty Commitments Forconserving Migratory Birds. in Addition, Continued Investments to Ensure Healthy Bird Populations Providerecreational Opportunities for Bird-watching, Photography, Hunting, and Education Programs That Benefitlandowners, Businesses, and Communities Across the RGJV Geography. the RGJV Builds Relationships With Partners Tofacilitate Strategic Investments in Conserving Ecosystems for the Benefit of Birds, Other Wildlife, and People.the RGJV Is Critical for Meeting Conservation Objectives for Many Species of Continental Importance as Detailedin the Recent Partners in Flight Continental Plan (rosenberg Et Al. 2016). the RGJV Geography Provides Habitatsfor 17 Watch List Species Three Red Level and 14 Yellow Level - as Well as 10 Common Species in Steep Decline.rgjv Is a Highly Important Area for Many of These Species in Need of Immediate and Sustained Conservationattention Attention.with Continued Support From the Usfws, the RGJV Will Continue to Facilitate Successes in Coordinated Andcollaborative Conservation Efforts Across the 63 Million Acres of the RGJV Region. Specifically, Even as the Rgjvcontinues to Meet Objectives Outlined in the Current (2018-2022) Strategic Plan, in FY2022 the RGJV Will Beginwork on a New 5-YEAR Strategic Plan That Will Guide Work From 2023-2027 While Continuing to Implement Identifiedhighest Priority Actions for Bird Conservation in the Grasslands, Riparian Areas, and Wetlands Across Ourgeography.
