The Understory Initiative

The Understory Initiative's Mission Is to Facilitate the Restoration and Conservation of Native Species Habitatthrough Partnership and Community Engagement. Collectively, Staff Members of the Understory Initiativemanage a Number of Data Collection, Monitoring Projects, Restoration Planning and Implementation, Andvegetation Management Plan Development Related to Various Plant Communities and Management Activities Inwestern Oregon. These Projects Include Rare Species Habitat Monitoring, Restoration Treatment Monitoring Inthe Grasslands of the Cascade-siskiyou National Monument, Data Collection in Support of Experimentalnoxious Weed Treatments on Solar Energy Generation Facilities, and Sensitive Species Population Monitoring.the Southern Oregon Monarch and Pollinator Initiative Program Currently Seeks to Create and Enhancepollinator Habitat on Private Lands. This Work Entails Sourcing and Propagation of Native Seed Material, Theformation of Collaborative Relationships With Private Landowners, Provision of Technical Assistance,coordination With Third Parties That May Align With This Work, and Internal Documentation and Planning Toprovide This Work Across the Rogue Basin. Tui Additionally Operates a Coastal Program of the Same Naturethat Spans the Coastal Area From the Oregon Border and Northwards Up to the Coos Bay Area. This Stretch Ofcoastal Area Spans Inland as Far as the Ecoregion, Level Iii Boundary of the Region 8 Coastal Area in Oregonspecifies. Through Both of These Programs Tui Seeks to Collaborate With Project Partners to Increase Theavailability of Viable Habitat for Monarch and Additional Pollinator Communities in Southwestern Oregon.
