Mckay Dam, Phase 1, Phase 2, Pumping Stations, Monitoring Stations, and the Oxbow:bor Maintains the Irrigation Canals in and Around the Hermiston Area as Well as Mckay Dam. Some of the Sites Are Pumping Stations, Monitoring Sites, Canals and a Earth Dam. These Areas Need to Be Free of Vegetation and Maintained for Noxious Weed Control, Fire, and Personnel Safety. We Do This by Using Bare Ground Herbicides to Maintain Zero Vegetation for the Growing Season. the Natural Areas on the Dam and the Oxbow Property Are Treated to Maintain and Control Noxious Weeds. Noxious Weeds Are an Economic Burden to the Landowners Across the State. Bor Is Doing Their Part by Controlling the Noxious Weeds.cold Springs and Mckay Refuge:cold Springs and Mckay Refuges Have Multiple Noxious Weed Sites That Have Invaded the Natural Areas Over the Years. These Areas Will Be Mapped and Controlled Chemically. This Is the Most Cost Effective Method in the Long Term. Bio Controls Will Be Used When Options Come Available.these Areas Will Be Treated Using Three Methods. the First Is With a 4X4 P/u With a Sprayer. the Second Is Utv With Boom and Hand Reel, and the Last Is With a Back Pack Sprayer. Both Bare Ground and Noxious Weed Control Applications Will Be Applied Using One of These Methods. in Some Cases Manual Control Will Be the Most Effective Method of Control.by Removing the Unwanted Vegetation Chemically You Are Reducing the Annual Maintenance Cost Over the Course of the Year for the Bare Ground Areas. by Removing the Noxious Weeds You Are Creating Natural Habitat by Reducing the Competition From the Noxious Weeds. Overall It Reduces the Economic Burden It Poses for the Public Areas, Agricultural Land, and Natural Areas.
