The Purpose of This Two-year Project Is to Conserve Protected Wildlife in the Bas Ogooue Lake District of Gabon. This Project Seeks to Reduce the Illegal Wildlife Trade in Lambarene, Gabon, by Addressing the Illegal Sale of Protected Species in the Bushmeat Trade (including Slender-snouted Crocodile, Manatee, Forest Buffalo, and Giant Pangolin). Specific Activities Include: (1) Conducting Public Engagement in the City Center and Rural Schools, Including Environmental Education and Teacher Training; (2) Developing the Education and Tourism Center on Tsam Tsam Lake; (3) Conducting Community Outreach, Including Events and Awareness Raising Among Vendors and Restaurant Cooperatives; (4) Facilitating Partnership Meetings Between Stakeholders in Lambarene; and (5) Conducting Market Surveys of Protected Wildlife Species Sales.
