Turtle Mountain Community College Project Title: Next - Native Education Excellence in Trades Project Objectives: the Goal of the Turtle Mountain Trade Occupation Program (entitled Native Education Excellence in Trades (next)) Is to Enhance Career and Technical Education, With a Focus on Building Construction/electrical Trades, at Turtle Mountain Community College to Best Recruit and Train a Diverse and Highly Skilled Workforce and Increase the Flow of American Indian/alaska Native Students to Fill Traditional and Emerging Positions at the Nuclear Security Enterprise to Meet Present and Future Security Demands. Objective 1: Each Project Year, Next Will Strengthen and Improve Recruitment of Underrepresented Minority Students Into Career and Technical Education at Turtle Mountain Community College (TMCC) by: (1.1) Conducting Interactive Demonstrations at Surrounding Schools to Increase Awareness of the Programs as Evidenced by the Number of Workshops Held and the Number of Students Participating. 2 Events Per Year With 50 Students Served Per Year. (1.2) Hosting an Industry Day at TMCC Where a Representative From the Nse (sandia National Laboratory) Visits to Build Relations With the Students and Demonstrate Careers at Nse. 1 Industry Days Per Year X 3 YEARS=3 Days. Objective 2: Each Project Year, Next Will Provide a High-quality Education, With a Focus on Building Construction/electrical Programming, With Hands-on-learning Experiences as Evidenced by the Course Curricula, Certifications Earned, and Numbers of Students Participating in the Degree Programs at TMCC. Target: 20 Students Per Year. Objective 3: Each Project Year, Next Will Advance Students Along the Pathway by Supporting Students (3.1) Participation in Enterprise Internships, (3.2) Transition to an Advanced Degree Program or (3.3) Attaining Employment Within a Professional Environment Such as the Nnsa Enterprise Workforce as Evidenced by the Numbers of Students Transitioning to a Degree Program, the Number of Students Both Interning at and Employed Within the Nnsa Enterprise Workforce, and the Number of Students Employed Within a Professional Environment. Step by Each Strategically Developed Step, Next Will Effectively Develop a Realistic Pathway for Highly Skilled Students to the Doors of the Enterprise Workforce as Desired.
