The Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) Is Seeking to Support Local Governments Within the 11-COUNTY Atlanta Metropolitan Region Towards Transitioning to a Carbon-free Economy. to This End, the Arc Is Developing a Regional Clean Electricity Plan for Local Governments in Metro Atlanta (clean Electricity Plan). This Clean Electricity Plan Will Identify Clean Electricity, Energy Efficiency, and Energy Management Opportunities, and the Pathway to Recognize Those Opportunities, in Local Government Buildings and Operations Across the 11-COUNTY Metropolitan Region (cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, Dekalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry and Rockdale Counties) Needed to Achieve the United States Federal Government’s Ambitious Goal of Local Governments Using 100% Carbon Pollution Free Electricity by 2035. Such a Plan Has Never Been Produced for the Atlanta Region and Will Support Counties and Cities Improve Energy Efficiencies and Transition to a Clean Energy Economy and Society, While Producing Numerous Economic, Environmental, and Community Co-benefits. the Overarching Expected Outcome of This Project Is the Creation of a Clean Electricity Roadmap for Local Governments That Will Help Align Related Municipal Efforts With Current Federal Funding Opportunities.
