Community Relations-social Development Commission (SDC), One of the Largest Weatherization Assistance Program Providers, Is Committed to Support the Department of Energy in Its Efforts to Achieve Carbon Pollution-free Electricity by 2035 and Establish a Pathway to Net-zero Emissions by 2050. the Wap Enhancement for Milwaukee Homes Project Is a Collaborative Effort Among Housing, Energy, and Workforce Development Partners Who Operate in the City of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This Project Will Target Neighborhoods With Excessively High Energy Burdens in Areas That Are Also Predominately Occupied by Low-income and Bipoc Populations Who Have Inequitable Access to the Resources Needed to Make Housing Units Into Affordable, Energy Efficient, and Healthy Places to Live. SDC Stresses and Ensures That the Project’s Demographics Agree and Are Equivalent to the Demographics of the Targeted Areas That Have a High Energy Burden and the Highest Poverty Rates. SDC Will Use Data From the Us Census and Department of Energy to Ensure That the Selected Housing Units Represent: 1) the Targeted Area’s Demographics; 2) the Units With the Highest Energy Burden; and 3) Households With Incomes Below Federal Poverty Levels. SDC Will Also Advocate for Demographics Who Have Historically Been Marginalized in the Targeted Neighborhoods. These Neighborhoods Tend to Have the Highest Energy Burdens.
