Award Purpose: the Guam Power Authority (GPA) Is Seeking Federal Funding to Purchase and Install a Modular Microgrid Controller That Will Improve Grid Control, Emergency Response, and Power Restoration Capabilities on Guam. This Project Aims to Increase Energy Resilience and Reliability for Critical Public Infrastructure in the Face of Severe Weather and Other Disruptions. Activities to Be Performed: Gpa Will Procure a Modular Microgrid Controller and Integrate It Into an Existing Distribution Circuit That Serves Essential Services Such as Healthcare, Water, and Emergency Operations. the Controller Will Be Connected to Gpa's Existing Systems and Configured to Allow for Real-time Monitoring, Load Management, and Islanding of the Selected Circuit During Grid Disturbances. Staff Will Be Trained in Its Operation, and the System Will Be Tested for Performance Under Simulated and Live Conditions. Expected Deliverables or Outcomes: - One Modular Microgrid Controller Fully Installed and Operational - Enhanced Real-time Visibility and Control Over the Selected Circuit - the Ability to Isolate and Maintain Power to Critical Facilities During Outages - Faster and More Targeted Power Restoration Following Emergencies - a Scalable Solution for Potential Future Microgrid Deployments Intended Beneficiaries: the Primary Beneficiaries Are Guam Residents and Government Agencies That Depend on Uninterrupted Power for Essential Services. the Project Will Improve Reliability for Facilities Such as Hospitals, Water Systems, Emergency Response Centers, and Shelters. Long-term, the Entire Island Benefits From Improved Grid Resilience. Subrecipient Activities: No Subrecipients Are Planned at This Time. All Project Activities Will Be Managed Directly by Gpa.
