Community Project Funding/congressionally Directed Spending - Construction - the Community Project Funding/congressionally Directed Spending (cpf/cds) Will Be Used to Purchase Moveable Equipment for the Nursing Facility and Instruction Technology Expansion Project. in Spring 2021, the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Published the Essentials: Core Competencies for Professional Nursing Education, Also Referred to as the “aacn Essentials” or “the Essentials.” the Aacn Essentials Provides Guidance for New Thinking and Approaches to Nursing Education Needed to Prepare the Future Nursing Workforce and Serve to Bridge the Gap Between Education and Practice. the Aacn Essentials Are Based on Competency-based Education Pedagogy. the Aacn Defines Competency-based Education (CBE) as “a System of Instruction, Assessment, Feedback, Self-reflection, and Academic Reporting That Is Based on Students Demonstrating That They Have Learned the Knowledge, Attitudes, Motivations, Self-perceptions, and Skills Expected of Them as They Progress Through Their Education.” Lander University School of Nursing (SON) Aims to Increase the Use of Simulation Throughout the Curriculum as a Strategy for Implementing Cbe. in Spring 2023, the Son Concluded a Thorough Evaluation of Its Curriculum to Determine How Well It Aligned With the Aacn Essentials. the Review Found Gaps in the Son’s Ability to Demonstrate Competency in Five of the Ten Domains. With the Support of the (cpf/cds) the Son Will Implement a Simulation-based Intensive Nursing Education Program to Address Gaps in Population Health, Systems-based Practice, Interprofessional Partnerships, Informatic and Healthcare Technologies, and Quality and Safety. the Cpf/cds Will Allow Lander University to Comprehensively Upgrade Its Nursing Simulation Facilities, Equipment, and Technology. This Initiative Includes Providing Essential Instructional Audio/visual Technology, Computers, Hospital Beds, Laboratories, Classroom Furniture, and Other Industry-specific Equipment and Supplies. the Initiatives Listed Above Will Enhance Nursing Education and Strengthen the Nursing Workforce by Increasing Training Opportunities for Nursing Students Through Simulation-based Technology Thus Increasing Readiness to Practice Upon Graduation. in Addition, This Program Will Expand the Capacity of Nurses to Advance the Health of Patients, Families, and Communities in Rural, Medical Underserved Areas.
