Community Project Funding/congressionally Directed Spending - Construction - National Alliance for Mental Illness, Ohio Is Partnering With the Mental Health and Recovery Services Board of Lucas County to Construct a New Facility on State Leased Land Near the Corner of South Detroit and Arlington Avenues, Toledo Ohio. the Leased Land Is an Empty Parcel Behind the Northwest Ohio Psychiatric Hospital (noph.) Just as Rehabilitation Centers for Individuals Leaving Hospital Following a Stroke or a Hip Fracture Are Available, a Rehabilitation Center for Adults Leaving Hospitals Who Suffer From a Mental Health Break Is Planned for Northwest Ohio. a Sixteen Bed Rehabilitation Center Will Specifically Serve Individuals, 18 Years and Older, Discharged From a State or Private Psychiatric Hospital, Who Need Additional Treatment Under a Supervised Living Arrangement. the Center, to Be Named Dani's Place, Will Be Owned by the Lucas County Board, Operated by a Nonprofit Organization, and Provide Clinically Appropriate Services, Episodic Medical Care With Linkage to Primary Medical Care, Assistance With Daily Living Skills, Meals, Family Integration Into Treatment, Discharge Plan, Reentry Assistance With Housing and Linkage to a Community Mental Health Case Manager. Individuals Referred to Dani's Place Will Be From One of 23 Home Counties in Northwest Ohio Including: Lucas (the Project Site), Allen, Auglaize, Darke, Defiance, Erie, Fulton, Hancock, Hardin, Henry, Huron, Mercer, Miami, Ottawa, Paulding, Putnam, Sandusky, Seneca, Shelby, Van Wert, Williams, Wood, and Wyandot. Outcomes Will Include Reduced Recidivism to More Costly In-patient Hospitalization, Reduced Incidences of Suicide Following Hospitalization, Increased Access to Treatment Beds, and Improved Discharge Planning With Housing and Community Services. a Geotechnical Engineer Will Evaluate the Land to Meet All Environmental and Historical Requirements for Construction. an Architectural/engineering Firm Will Be Hired in Accordance With All Required Building Codes and Design. Design Features Will Allow for Input From the Nonprofit Provider and People With Lived Experience of Psychiatric Hospitalization. All Work Will Be Managed by the Firm, Hplex, an Ohio-based, Experienced Health Care Professional Firm, Hired as the Owners’ Representative for the Project. Hplex Will Ensure Adherence to All Federal, State, and Local Regulations and Codes, Assist With Soliciting and Hiring of Professionals and Contractors, Budgeting and Cost Controls and Ensure Quality Construction Delivery. Local and State Regulations for Bidding Construction Work Will Be Followed. the Project Will Be a New Greenfield Facility, Estimated at 20,000 to 30,000 Square Feet of Residential Space With Single Rooms, Shared Baths, Community Rooms, Therapeutic Rooms, a Teaching Kitchen, Dining Area, Recreational Space, Offices, and Storage. the Building Will Be Equipped With a Security System to Improve Safety for the Residents and Staff. There Will Be Improvements to the Site Including Driveway, Parking, Outdoor Courtyard Space for the Residents. the Timeline for the Project Began in July 2022 and Is Expected to Move Into 2023 With Contracting Bidding, and Construction, Concluding With an Occupancy Permit in 2025. the First Resident Will Be Treated With Rehabilitation Services in Dani's Place Before the End of 2025.
