Award Purpose: the Purpose of This Agreement Is to Conduct Surveys, Trapping, and Nest Eradication for Yellow Legged Hornet (ylh), Vespa Velutina, in Beaufort and Jasper Counties, in Response to the Detection of Ylh Around Savannah, Ga in July 2023. Activities to Be Performed: at a Minimum 1,000 Trapping Locations Will Be Identified and Surveys Conducted Throughout the Year, Focusing on Areas Within 20 Miles of 2024 Nest Locations. Traps Will Be Checked Weekly, and Lures/bait Replaced. Any Nests Found Will Be Eradicated. Outreach Materials Will Also Be Produced and Disseminated, and an Online Reporting Tool and Survey 123 Form Created to Assist With Collecting and Responding to Public Reports. Additional Techniques Will Also Be Utilized This Year, Including But Not Limited to Radio Tagging, Live Baiting and Beelining, and Use of Aerial Imaging. Deliverables and Expected Outcomes: Continued Surveys and Detection of Yellow Legged Hornet Nests. Clemson Is Anticipating to Find and Eradicate Up to 40 Nests This Year. All Data Pertaining to Ylh Surveys Will Be Shared With Usda-aphis-ppq. If Appropriate, Data Will Be Entered Into Napis.
