The Wiyot Tribe Located on the Northwest Coast of California Has Lived in a Reciprocal Relationship With Land Water and the Sincetime Immemorial. With the Onset of Setter Colonialism the Tribe Has Faced the Severe Consequences of Logging Overfishingmining and Other Extractive Practices on Their Ancestral Lands. in More Recent Times the Tribe Has Been Burdened by High Energycosts and Unreliable Electrical Service Which Has Had Acute Impacts on Tribal Community Members Especially Elders and Thedisabled. the Tribe and Its Leadership Are Determined to Create a New and Brighter Future for Their Community by Investigating Thedevelopment of Its Abundant Renewable Resources. Emdp Funds Will Allow the Tribe to Spearhead a Comprehensive Feasibilitystudy an Assessment of Project Alternatives and Development of a Detailed Implementation Road Map to Guide the Developmentof a Unique Hybrid Solarbiomass Microgrid Project. Through This Microgrid Project the Tribe Aims to 1. Alleviate the High Energycost Burden of Its Community Members 2. Increase the Reliability of Electrical Service to the Tribal Community and Its Enterprises 3.REDUCE the Environmental and Carbon Footprints of Energy Use on the Reservation.
