Description:california State Coastal Conservancy's Regionally Advancing Living Shorelines in San Francisco Bay Project (the Project) Aims to Expand Capacity and Engage a Wider Network of Regional Partners in Order to Scale Up From a Limited Research Stage and Integrate and Normalize Nature-based Flood Approaches Within Traditional Shoreline Master Planning, Sea Level Rise Adaptation Planning, and Ongoing Shoreline Management by Cities, Counties, and Other Landowners. the Project Includes a Focus on Increasing Climate Adaptation Approaches Utilizing Wetlands, Intertidal, and Subtidal Habitats in Nearshore Areas in Central SF Bay; Including Portions of San Francisco County, Marin County From Sausalito to San Rafael, and Alameda and Contra Costa Counties From Hayward to Albany. Activities Include Targeted Baseline Monitoring, Development of Regional Design Guidance, and Design Development for 10 New Living Shoreline Sites. the Project Is Carefully Planned to Better Address Climate Impacts and Urgency, Build on Lessons Learned and Best Practices From Pilot Projects to Date, and Advance High Quality Site Projects That Are Ready for Implementation in 2025-27. This Agreement Provides Federal Funding in the Amount of $1,500,000. Pre-award Costs Are Approved Back to 06/01/2023.ACTIVITIES:TO Implement the San Francisco Estuary Partnership Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan (CCMP), California State Coastal Conservancy's Regionally Advancing Living Shorelines in San Francisco Bay Project Will Accomplish the Following Activities: Targeted Baseline Monitoring Within Three Reaches of the Central Bay, Development of Regional Design and Constructability Guidance, and Raising Capacity With 10 Regional Site Partners in Developing and Living Shorelines Designs.subrecipient:subgrantee San Francisco Estuary Institute Will Co-manage the Project With CSCC; and Help Implement Pilot and Baseline Data Collection, Development of Regional Design and Constructability Guidance, Development of Site Design Teams, and Development of Site Designs. Subgrantee Marin Audubon Society Will Help Implement Development of Regional Design and Constructability Guidance, Development of Site Design Teams, and Development of Site Designs. Subgrantee Golden Gate Audubon Society Will Help Implement Development of Regional Design and Constructability Guidance, Development of Site Design Teams, and Development of Site Designs. Subgrantee San Francisco State University Will Help Implement Pilot and Baseline Data Collection, Development of Regional Design and Constructability Guidance, Development of Site Design Teams, and Development of Site Designs.outcomes:anticipated Deliverables Include Monitoring Data Collection at Five Baseline Pilot Sites, Physical and Biological Data (bathymetry, Topography, Sediment, Habitat, Species), Summary of Key Lessons Learned and Best Practices at Five Pilot Sites, Regional Design and Constructability Guidance Document, 30-60% Site Designs, Plans, Specs at 10 New Sites in Central SF Bay, Written Products, Including Summary Report, Conference Abstracts, Design Criteria, Best Management Practices on Living Shoreline Techniques That Can Be Applied to Other Regional Project Locations, Demonstrated Collaboration on Multi-benefit Designs and Climate Adaptation, and Knowledge Transfer to City and County Staff Linked to 10 New Sites. the Intended Beneficiaries of This Project Are the Living Resources of the San Francisco Bay and Its Watersheds.
