Description:the Purpose of This American Rescue Plan Funded and Competitively Selected Cooperative Agreement Is to Conduct Ambient Air Monitoring of Pollutants of Greatest Concern in Communities With Environmental and Health Outcome Disparities Stemming From Pollution and the COVID-19 Pandemic. This Agreement Provides Full Federal Funding in the Amount of $499,895.ACTIVITIES:THESE Funds Will Be Used to Support Community and Local Efforts to Monitor Their Own Air Quality and to Promote Air Quality Monitoring Partnerships Between Communities and Tribal, State, and Local Governments That: Leverage Existing Air Quality Expertise, Expand Use of Community Monitoring Groups and Other Approaches That Give the Community a Voice in the Monitoring of the Air Quality, and Build a Foundation of Trusting Relationships and Enhanced Understanding From Which Sustainable Solutions to Community Air Pollution Problems Can Be Found. Specifically, the Recipient Will: Create a Regional, Resource-efficient Collaboration of Community-based Organizations, Government Collaborators, Data Analysis Stakeholders, and Technology Partners in the California Bay Area That Will Undertake 1) Community Engagement and Community-specific Needs-assessment Activities, 2) Support Air Quality Capacity-building, 3) Deploy a Public Network of Low-cost Air Sensors Throughout Three California Bay Area Environmental Justice Communities (eastern San Francisco, East Oakland and South San Francisco), and 4) Promote Best Practices in Community Air Monitoring Derived From Our Activities.subrecipient:community-based Partners That Receive Subawards Will Leverage Community Connections to Further the Objectives Laid Out in the Workplan. Including, Engaging Community in Dialogue Around Air Quality Data and Deployment of Air Quality Sensors.outcomes:expected Deliverables Include Air Sensor Data to Provide Quantified Information to Inform a California Bay Area Community Air Quality Collaborative Effort. Direct Beneficiaries of These Activities Are Community Residents Who Will Have Access to Community Driven Air Quality Data in Environmental Justice Communities.
