Description:the Purpose of This Competitively Selected Grant Is to Conduct Ambient Air Monitoring of Pollutants of Greatest Concern in Communities With Environmental and Health Outcome Disparities Stemming From Pollution and the COVID-19 Pandemic. This Assistance Agreement Provides Full Federal Funding in the Amount of $213,204. Pre-award Costs Have Been Approved Back to 05/01/2023. This Project Will Establish a New Slams Monitor in the Western Portion of Reno, NV to Fill a Spatial Gap in the Existing Ambient Air Monitoring Network. This Area Is Underserved by the Existing Network and Typically Experiences the Highest PM Concentrations in Washoe County During Interstate Transport Wildfire Smoke Episodes. the Pollutant Scope of This Monitor Will Be PM (continuous PM2.5, PM10 and PM10-2.5) and Ozone. This Project Will Also Collect Valuable Air Pollution and Meteorological Data.activities:these Funds Will Be Used to Support Community and Local Efforts to Monitor Their Own Air Quality and to Promote Air Quality Monitoring Partnerships Between Communities and Tribal, State, and Local Governments That: Leverage Existing Air Quality Expertise, Expand Use of Community Monitoring Groups and Other Approaches That Give the Community a Voice in the Monitoring of the Air Quality, and Build a Foundation of Trusting Relationships and Enhanced Understanding From Which Sustainable Solutions to Community Air Pollution Problems Can Be Found. Specifically, the Recipient Will: Secure a Site Location, Prepare the Monitoring Station Structure and Instrumentation and Commence Monitoring Activities.subrecipient:no Subawards Are Included in This Assistance Agreement.outcomes:expected Deliverables Include the Establishment of a New Ambient Air Monitoring Station in the Southwest Portion of Washoe County, NV in the Community of Verdi. the Verdi Site Will Monitor for PM (continuous PM2.5, PM10 and PM10-2.5), Ozone and Meteorology (ambient Temperature, Wind Speed, Wind Direction). Expected Outcomes: the Establishment of a New Monitoring Station in Verdi, NV Will Strengthen Community Partnerships and Improve Air Quality and Meteorological Information and Forecasting Capabilities for the Entire Region. Instrumentation Selection Will Be Consistent With the Existing Analyzers and Sensors in the Aqmd Network and Will Provide All Communities Air Quality Data of the Same Quality and Allow Them to Compare Continuous Data Streams in Nearby Areas. Operation of This New Monitoring Site in Accordance With All Epa Requirements Will Lead to the Collection of Quality Assured Ambient Air Quality Data to Help Ensure That More Americans Are Living and Working in Areas That Meet High Air Quality Standards.
