Description:this Project Provides Funding Under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) (PL 117-58) for Los Angeles Conservation Corp (LACC) to Recruit, Train, and Place Unemployed and Underemployed Residents of the Los Angeles Area in Environmental Careers With Skills Needed to Safely Conduct Remediation Work at Solid and Hazardous Waste-contaminated Sites, as Well as Appropriate Training in Green Remediation Technologies, Storm Water Management, Emergency Planning and Chemical Safety. Additionally Trainees Will Complete the Program Holding Three (3) Federal, Three (3) State, and 12 Industry-recognized Certifications. Trainees Will Receive a Federal Credential That Helps Increase Employabilitymdash;tsa-issued Twic (transportation Worker Identification Credential) Card, Which Is Valuable When Applying for Jobs in and Around Major Transportation Facilities. This Assistant Agreement Provides Full Federal Funding in the Amount of $500,000.ACTIVITIES:THIS Project Will Train Graduates to Earn Skills and Certifications Necessary to Enter Into Environmental Careers. Activities to Be Performed During Under This Project Include Up to 182 Hours of Supplementary Job Skills Training in Workplace Safety, First Aid/cpr/aed, Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection, Environmental Site Awareness, Pesticide Application, Mold Remediation, and Lead Abatement. Furthermore, Positive Program Outcomes Will Be Ensured by 37 Hours of Job Search and Placement Assistance and Six Months of Follow-up. Subrecipient:no Subawards Are Included in This Assistance Agreement.outcomes:this Project Will Provide Training to the Los Angeles Area as Well as the Surrounding Areas. the Anticipated Deliverables for Are: -up to 86 Individuals Recruited, Trained, Certified, and Placed in Environmental Careers in Communities Impacted by Solid and Hazardous Waste Sites and Facilities. Multiple Classroom Style Trainings, Practical Trainings, and Curricula Modules Covering Multiple Topics Related to the Training Program, Such as Hazwoper Certification, Lead Abatement Worker Certification, Cpr/first Aid Certification, Etc. -up to Three (3) Federal, Three (3) State, and 12 Industry-recognized Certifications of Appropriate Certifications in Environmental Sampling and Site Cleanup Methods. -up to 86 Individuals That Receive Certifications in Osha 29 CFR 1910.120 40-HOUR Hazwoper Training. Expected Outcomes From This Project Include: -program Completers Will Have Gained Tools to Handle Work and Life Challenges From Life Skills Programming. -program Completers Will Have Increased Their Knowledge of Environmental Remediation and Gain Specialized Job Skills From the Training Curriculum. -program Completers Will Have Received Job Search Support and Will Have Been Placed in Entry-level Positions With Brownfields Remediation or Other Environmental Services Firms. -provide Training That Leads to Sustainable Employment in the Environmental Field. -reduce Exposures to Hazardous Substances and Other Contaminants and Improve the Health of Workers, Occupants, and Residents. -enable Residents to Participate in the Promotion of Environmental Health and Occupational Safety, Both on the Job and in Their Communities.
