Description:this Agreement Will Provide Financial Assistance to the Recipient for the Implementation of Its Program to Ensure That Underground Sources of Drinking Water Are Protected From Endangering Injection Activities, in Which Treated Waste Water Is Injected Into the Ground Between Impermeable Layers of Rock Formation. the Goals of This Project Include Permitting, Maintenance of the Uic Inventory, Inspection, Compliance Monitoring, Mechanical Integrity Testing and Maintenance of Regulatory Authority, Enforcement, and Reporting. Activities:the Activities to Be Performed Include the Development and Maintenance of Inventories of Injection Systems; the Development and Maintenance of Databases Housing Compliance Information on Underground Injection Well Activities; the Implementation of Permitting Activities; and the Implementation of Enforcement Programs. Other Activities Include, Identification to Region 7 Usepa Any Proposed or Final Additions, Revisions, or Clarifications in the KCC Uic Regulations, Plugging Abandoned or Inactive Uic Wells, Inspection, Compliance, and Enforcement Training of KCC Staff, Participation in the Kansas Initiatives on Ground Water, Reclamation, and Subsidence Anomalies, and Monitoring Seismic Activity and Work With the Kansas Geological Survey and Kansas Department of Health and the Environment to Continue the Reduction of Seismic Activity. Subrecipient:no Subawards Are Included in This Assistance Agreement.outcomes:the Anticipated Outcome Is That Underground Sources of Drinking Water Are Protected From Underground Injection Activities. the Expected Outcomes Include Maintaining Core Activities Including Permitting, Inspection, Monitoring, Compliance, and Enforcement of Class Ii Injection Activities Related to Oil and Gas Production With a Purpose of Protecting Fresh and Usable Ground Waters. Processing Permit Applications Along With Public Notice Comment Review Before a Permit Can Be Issued. Tracking of Uic Well Activity With a Risk Based Data Management System. During Ffy 2025 the Program Commits to 3,500 Mits, 4,500 Compliance Reviews and 4,500 Field Inspections. Uic Program Semi-annual and Annual Reports Will Be Filed With Epa Region 7. Staff Regularly Attends Meetings, Workshops, and Seminars Hosted by the Groundwater Protection Council, Kansas Geological Society, the Kansas Geological Survey, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, the Petroleum Technology Transfer Council, and the Tertiary Oil Recovery Project. the Intended Beneficiaries Include the Residents of the State of Kansas.
