Description:this Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) Project Will Provide Technical Assistance (e.g., Information, Training, Tools) to Businesses to Help Them Develop and Adopt Source Reduction Practices (also Known as Pollution Prevention (P2)). P2 Means Reducing or Eliminating Pollutants From Entering Any Waste Stream or Otherwise Being Released Into the Environment Prior to Recycling, Treatment, or Disposal. P2 Practices Can Help Businesses Save Money by Reducing Their Resource Use, Expenditures, Waste and Liability Costs, While at the Same Time Reducing Their Environmental Footprint and Helping to Protect Human Health and the Environment. Region 8'S Montana Pollution Prevention Program Has Filled an Important Role for Technical Assistance and Training in Pollution Prevention in Montana for Over 30 Years. It Is the Goal of MTP2 and Their Partners to Offer Technical Assistance to Aid the Food and Beverage (FANDB) Manufacturing and Processing Industry and Other Small Businesses in Creating More Efficient and Pollution Free Processes, as Well as to Strengthen Partnerships to Increase Replication and Accountability. Additionally, MTP2 Strives to Provide This Service to All the People of Our Region, Including Montana's Tribes and Other Underserved Populations, Negatively Affected by the Impacts of Climate Change and a Lack of Environmental Justice. Funding of This Proposal Will Create a New Environmental Justice (EJ) Focused Program for Montana's Tribes; Will Strategically Expand Existing MTP2 Programs Offering Training and Technical Assistance to Businesses in the Fandb Manufacturing Industries; and Will Fund Assistance With and Participation in a Regional Roundtable.activities:the Priorities for P2 Technical Assistance (information, Training, and Tools) Align With One or More of the Program's National Emphasis Areas (neas). Specifically, the Project(s) Will Support Nea 1: Food and Beverage Manufacturing and Process Industry by Implementing the Following 4 Projects: 1) Ej - Tek Integration Into P2 Framework: a First Nation's PHD Student Will Work With Montana State University's Native American Studies Department, the Salish Kootenai College and an Intertribal Advisory Committee to Integrate Traditional Ecological Knowledge With Existing P2 Principles to Design a Holistic Approach to Incorporating P2 on Tribal Lands and Advance Considerations of Tek Into Federal Decision Making. 2) Sustainable Brewery Certification (SBC): Partners Will Develop a Standard Operating Procedure Workshop on Chemicals/cleaning for Breweries. the SBC Will Be Introduced Statewide at the Montana Brewers Association Annual Meeting. 3) Ecostar Leadership Award: Ecostar Awardees Will Be Provided With a One Day, On-site, Technical Assistance (TA) Assessment. After Evaluation, Each Awardee Will Receive a $500 Mini Grant to Jump Start Implementation of the Ta P2 Recommendations. 4) P2 Regional Roundtable FY'24: MTP2 Will Assist With and Attend an Epa Regional Roundtable.subrecipient:no Subawards Are Included in This Assistance Agreement.outcomes:the Technical Assistance Conducted by the Grantee Will Benefit Facilities and, If Applicable, May Address Underserved Communities. the Grantee Is Expected to Report on P2 Performance Measures (outputs and Outcomes) and Note Who Will Benefit From the Technical Assistance as Well as Commit to Following-up With Facilities to Find Out Whether the Technical Assistance Was Adopted and Implemented.
