Description:the Purpose of This Award Is to Provide Funding Under the Inflation Reduction Act to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Specifically, the Recipient Will Conduct Planning to Improve Air Quality and Reduce Pollution in Union, Hudson, and Essex County in New Jersey and Richmond County in New York.activities:the Activities Include Analyzing the Local Movements of Drayage Trucks, Conducting a Community Air Monitoring Project, Engaging With Community Members and Independent Truck Owners, and Analyzing Strategies for Emissions Reductions.subrecipient:calstart Will Identify and Engage Drayage Truck Operators Through Targeted Outreach, Support Participation in Outreach Efforts by Compensating Drayage Truck Operators for Their Time, and Increase Awareness of Available Incentives for Upgrading to Low- and Zero- Emission Vehicles. Ironbound Community Corporation Will Conduct a Community-centric Air Monitoring Project, Conduct General Community Outreach Activities, and Encourage Community Participation in Engagement Efforts by Compensating Individuals and Groups for Their Time. Outcomes:the Anticipated Deliverables Include Establishing a Port Community Advisory Council, Completing a Drayage Truck Movement and Impact Study, Engaging Drayage Truck Owner-operators on the Topic of Transitioning to Low- and Zero-emission Trucks, Completing a Community-centric Air Monitoring Project, Purchasing and Distributing Air Quality Monitoring Devices, Engaging Near-port Community Members and Organizations, and Publicly Documenting the Results of Planning Activities. the Expected Outcomes Include Improved Ability to Incorporate Community Perspectives Into Port Decision-making, Strengthened Relationships Between the Port and Drayage Truck Owner-operators and Truck Associations, Improved Understanding of Air Quality Issues Near the Port, Increased Stakeholder Participation in Port Planning and Decision-making Impacting Environmental Justice, and Increased Transparency in Planning Activities. the Intended Beneficiaries Include the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (grantee), Calstart (subawardee), and Ironbound Community Corporation (subawardee), Drayage Truck Owner-operators, Near-port Community Residents, and Local Environmental Justice Groups That Are Impacted by the Port. #8239;
