Three Affiliated Tribes

Three Affiliated Tribes (TAT) Would Like to Advance and Refine the Current Wetland Program to Include a More Comprehensive Set of Objectives Using the Core Elements Suggested by the U.s. Environmental Protection Agency (epa). This Will Enable the Tat Environmental Division to Thoroughly Assess the Condition and Health of Wetland Resources at a Watershed and Field Leveland Enhance and Apply Appropriate Assessment Methodologiesand and Cooperate With Adjacent Landowners and Stakeholders to Continue to Develop a Program to Restore, Maintain and Monitor Wetland Resources on Tribal Lands. Building on the Existing Wetland Program Plan, the Tat Environmental Division Intends to Design the Processes and Policies That Will Allow Them to Assess, Monitor, Control, and Protect the Health of Reservation Wetland Resources and Increase Tat Environmental Division Staff Knowledge of Wetland Management. Completion of Project Tasks Will Improve the Tat Environmental Divisions Existing Wetland Program and Water Quality Program by Developing Core Elements Identified by the Epa. Main Tasks to Accomplish This Objective Include: Identify Appropriate Assessment and Monitoring Strategies to Determine Wetland Conditionand Select High Functioning Wetland Resources for Protectionand Identify Degraded Wetland Resources for Enhancement And/or Restorationand Apply Traditional Ecological Knowledge When Evaluating Wetland Functionand and Engage and Cooperate With Local Stakeholders and Landowners to Improve Water Quality by Increasing the Protection, Enhancement and Restoration of Wetland Resources.
