Description:this Grant Agreement Provides Funding to the Borough of Freeport to Implement Its Project to Upgrade Its Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) for Long-term Control Plan Implementation and Improvements as Directed in the 2023 Consolidated Appropriations Act or as Identified in an Approved Technical Correction If One Has Been Approved for This Project.activities:the Specific Activities to Be Performed Are Replacing the Existing Influent Wet Well and Pumps With a New Main Pump Station, Diverting Flow to the New Pump Station by Installing a New Manhole and Directing the Flow to the New Wet Well, Converting the Existing 'clarigester' Process Basins to Aerobic Digesters, and Upgrading the Existing Drying Beds With New Filtration Tiles, Polymer Feed System, and Isolation Gates.subrecipient:no Subawards Are Included in This Assistance Agreement.outcomes:the Anticipated Deliverables Are Upgrading Freeport's Wastewater Treatment Plant, Which Is Expected to Lead to Diverted Combined Sewer Overflows Away From a 'sensitive Area' of Buffalo Creek, and Eliminating Bottlenecks Within the System Which Restricted Portions of Flow From Getting to the WWTP. the Project Will Provide Adequate Treatment Capacity to Accomplish 85% Capture of Combined, Wet Weather Sewage Flows Which Will Dramatically Improve Water Quality in Buffalo Creek and Downstream Areas of the Allegheny River. the Intended Beneficiaries Include the Citizens of Freeport Borough.
