Building Futures: Licensing and Workforce Development for Indigenous Early Childhood Care - Copper River Native Association (CRNA) Proposes a Three-year Initiative to Establish Licensed Early Childhood Care and Education for Ahtna Children and Families in the Copper River Region. the Project Addresses the Critical Shortage of Licensed Childcare Providers in the Area, Where Families Currently Face Long Waitlists and Limited Options. Crna Will Hire Three Full-time Child Care Educators and Develop a Comprehensive Program That Incorporates Ahtna Language and Traditions. the Project Includes Professional Development, Curriculum Design, and Licensing Support. Behavioral Health Aides Will Provide Additional Support Through Early Childhood Screening and Staff Training. the Program Will Serve Up to 24 Children Ages 0-5 Annually (72 Total Over Three Years) and Will Operate From Crna's Glennallen Facility. by Partnering With Families, Tribal Councils, and Local School Districts, the Project Aims to Improve School Readiness, Increase Access to Licensed Childcare, and Strengthen Family Involvement in Early Learning. the Initiative Will Build Lasting Capacity to Provide Licensed, Ahtna-centered Childcare That Supports Both Child Development and Workforce Participation
