The Oceanography Society Proposes to Publish a Special Issue of Oceanography on Ocean Warming in June 2018. the Overarching Objective of the Ocean Warming Special Issue Is to Provide an Accessible Summary of the State of the Science of This Globally Important Topic. in This Regard the Special Issue Will Fulfill Oceanographys Principal Goals of Fostering Cross-disciplinary Understanding and Interaction. Special Issues Such as the Proposal One on Ocean Warming Enable Coverage of a Single Theme From Many Different Angles. Further Discussion and Discovery Among Scientists Are Enabled and the Clear. Nontechnical Language Used in Articles Make the Information Easily Extractable and Usable by Decision-makers. Many Articles Are Reported on by the Media and Are Also Used in Teaching.the Oceanography Editor DR. Ellen Kappel Will Work With the Guest Editors DRS. Paul Durack (lawrence Livermore National Laboratory) Julie Pullen (stevens Institute of Technology Alex Sen Gupta (unsw Sydney) Lars Smedsrud (university of Bergen) to Produce This Special Issue. the Guest Editors Will Assist in Formulating the Table of Contents Including Titles and Authorship for Articles and Obtain at Least Two Peer Reviews of Each Manuscript. the Oceanography Editor and Assistant Editor Will Work With Authors to Finalize Text Assuring Readability and Accuracy. the Oceanography Designer Will Check All Graphics for Quality Input Each Article Into the Design Software Produce Proofs for Authors and Input Any Final Corrections. the Designer Who Is Also the Oceanography Society Webmaster Will Post Low-resolution PDFS of Each Article on the Tos Website Within a Week of Submission of the Hard Copy Files to the Printer. Hard Copies of the Magazine Are Mailed to Tos Membership Worldwide as Well as to the Libraries at Major Oceanographic Institutions. Full Digital Versions (PDF Download Browser Ipad Android Kindle) Are Available to Tos Members for Free Through Qmags and Can Be Purchased by Any Other Interested Party. Tos Membership (and Hence the Readership) Includes Most of the Senior Administrators of Government Oceanographic Agencies and Academic Research Institutions. in Addition All Articles Are Published Online on the Oceanography Website With Full Free Access (see Http://tos.org/oceanography/volume) to Ensure the Broadest Possible Use of the Published Information.
