Purpose - the Purpose of This Award Is to Advance Realization of Digital Twin Capabilities Associated With the Iso 10303 Standard, the De Facto Means for Engineering Data Exchange. the Proposed Work Will Entail Reorganization of Iso 10303-42 Geometric Modeling Schema, Alignment to Theory, and Other Technical Corrections as Well as the Development of an Isogeometric Analysis (IGA) Data Representation. Activities to Be Performed - This Award Focuses on Geometric and Topological Activities Associated With the Iso 10303 Standard. Planned Activities Include: Lead Iso TC 184/SC 4/WG 12 T1 Geometry and Topology Team Technical Work and Perform Administrative Responsibilities. Direct and Indirect Efforts in the Standardization of the Associated Technologies of Digital Twin, Hybrid Modeling, Model-based Definition (MBD) and Digital Thread Utilizing MBD(S), and Associated Semantic Product and Manufacturing Information in Iso 10303; Direct Efforts in the Standardization of Iga Data in Iso 10303. Expected Outcomes - Computational Engineering Design, Analysis, Manufacturing, and Inspection Are Vital Industrial Technologies Utilized by Fields as Diverse as Geotechnical Engineering and Biomechanics. the Ever-changing and Growing State-of-the-art in This Field Requires Updates to Standards and Codes Critical for Translating, Transmitting, and Storing Such Electronic Data in a Complete and Reliable Manner for All Such Varied Users. the Work Proposed Herein Will Add Critical Low-level Geometric and Solid Modeling Updates and Enhancements to Properly Leverage Step (standard for the Exchange of Product Model Data; Step Is the Informal Name for Iso 10303) for Use the Mbe Digital Thread and for Those Employing Step for Digital Twin Capabilities. These Technologies, Critical to Role of Digital Engineering, Simulation, Manufacturing, and Inspection, Highly Utilize the MBD in Spatially Resolving Engineering Data. Intended Beneficiaries - Beneficiaries of This Award Are Standards Developers Who Will Benefit From the Principal Investigator's Expertise in the Fields of Design and Engineering, Computer-aided Design (CAD) and Computer-aided Engineering (cae), and Computational Analysis. Implementers of Step Will Benefit From the High Quality of Standards Specifications Delivered Through This Proposed Work, and a New Offering for Their Cad/cae Customers. Researchers, Engineers, and Designers From Multiple Industries Will Appreciate the Benefits of Iga: Time Savings and Analysis Quality Improvements Due to Better Underlying Mathematical Representations as Well as the Ability to Share and Store Iga Data With Step. Manufacturers Will Benefit From Being Able to Participate in Digital Supply Chain Ecosystems and Build Digital Twins With Multiple Spatially Related Geometries of Their Products, More Capable Digital Models, Improved Product Quality.
