This Project Seeks to Perform Construction Activities to Rehabilitate and Upgrade Approximately 5.5 Miles of Track and Related Infrastructure on the Texas Northwestern Railroads (TXNW) Etter Lead Track Operating Between Cactus and Sunray, Texas. the Project Includes Replacing Worn Out 80 and 85LB Jointed Rail With 115-LBJOINTED Relay Rail, Replace 5,500 Crossties, Replace Nine (9) Turnouts, Surface, Line and Make Ballast Improvements, Rehabilitate Seven Public and Private At-grade Crossings, and Replace Three (3) Open Deck Timber Trestle Bridges With Concrete Culverts. TNW (recipient) Will Complete the Following Deliverables: a Project Management Plan, Final Performance Report, Final Design Documents and Updated U.s. Dot Inventory Forms. Project Upgrades Will Allow for Larger, Modern, Fuel-efficient Locomotives to Transport Unit Trains With 286,000 LBS. Cars Unrestricted to a Critical Grain Elevator in Sunray, TX. Also, the Project Is Necessary for the Grain Elevator to Be Responsive to Growing Demand From Cattle Feedlots and Dairies in Moore County, TX, and Throughout the Texas Panhandle. Supporting a Rural and Economically Distressed Area.
