North Slope Borough

Purpose: Reconstruct Runway Lighting; Reconstruct Taxiway Lighting; Install Apron Edge Lights And/or Flood Lighting; Rehabilitate Apron; Rehabilitate Taxiway; Install Perimeter Fencing Not Required by 49 CFR 1542; Rehabilitate Runway; Install Miscellaneous Navaids; Reconstruct or Replace Airport Lighting Vault. This Grant Includes Funding by the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 to Increase the Federal Share to 100 Percent for the Airport Improvement Program (aip). Activities to Be Performed/expected Outcomes: This Project Installs 5 Sets of Free Standing Flood Lights on the Aviation Parking Apron to Add Visibility of Surface Edges and Boundaries. This Project Reconstructs the Taxiway a Lighting System That Has Reached the End of Its Useful Life and Requires Reconstruction to Meet Federal Aviation Administration Standards. This Project Reconstructs the Existing Runway 6/24 Lighting System That Has Reached the End of Its Useful Life and Requires Reconstruction to Meet Federal Aviation Administration Standards. This Project Rehabilitates 18,044 Square Yards of the Existing Aircraft Parking Apron to Maintain the Structural Integrity of the Gravel Surface. This Project Rehabilitates 4,370 Feet of Runway 6/24 to Maintain the Structural Integrity of the Gravel Surface. This Project Rehabilitates 555 Feet of the Existing Taxiway a Surface to Extend Its Useful Life. This Project Replaces 400 Feet of Wildlife Fencing to Enhance Safe Airfield Operations by Mitigating Wildlife Hazards. This Project Is in a Federal Aviation Administration Approved Wildlife Hazard Assessment. This Project Replaces the Airport's Wind Cone and Segmented Circle That Have Reached the End of Their Useful Lives and No Longer Meet Federal Aviation Administration Design Standards. This Project Replaces the Existing Airport Lighting Vault. This Grant Funds the Final Phase, Which Consists of Construction. Intended Beneficiary: This Grant Will Provide Federal Funding for Airports Associated With Atqasuk, Alaska.
