Chippewa Luce Mackinac Conservation District

The Cooperator Will Utilize Staff and Partner Crews to Aid in the Recovery and De-listing of Federally-threatened Plant Species, Including Pitcher's Thistle (cirsium Pitcheri), Dwarf Lake Iris (iris Lacustris), Houghton's Goldenrod (oligoneuron Houghtonii), and Lakeside Daisy (tetraneuris Herbacea). This Will Be Accomplished by Conducting Non-native Invasive Species (NNIS) Control, Surveying and Inventorying Nnis Within Suitable Habitat, and Monitoring Existing Plant Species Populations on the Forest and Adjacent Private Lands. the Goals for the Initial Phase of This Project Are to Control 30 Cumulative Acres of Non-native Invasive Species Infestations Within Occupied Pitchers Thistle Habitat and Conduct 120 Acres of Non-native Invasive Species Surveys Within Suitable Pitcher's Thistle Habitat. Funds for Future Annual Operating Plans and Identified Plant Species Will Be Secured at a Later Date. the Work Will Take Place in Mackinac County in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan During the 2026-2028 Field Seasons Using Hand Tools, Chainsaws, Surveying and Monitoring Equipment, and Vehicles for Travel to Each Site.
