This Agreement With the National Forest Foundation on the National Forests in North Carolina. This Award Will Accomplish the Implementation of a Watershed and Recreation Restoration Project at Skitty Lake on the Nantahala National Forest, Including the Removal of Debris and Sediment Deposited From Storm Waters. This Award Will Also Accomplish Large Scale Reforestation Activities to Promote Active Management Across 59,000 Forested Acres Impacted by Hurricane Helene. This Work Includes Planning, Site Assessments, Mechanical or Chemical Treatment of Stands, Planting Trees, Releasing of Trees to Encourage Growth, Performance Tracking and Non-native Invasive Species Treatment. the Project Is Scheduled to Begin in the Fall of 2025 (september 15, 2025) and Continue Through September 15, 2035. Disaster Funds Will Be Used to Fund Portions of Salary and Travel Costs for 7 National Forest Foundation Employees That Will Support Project Coordination, Engineer Design Reviews and Construction Oversight, and Contract Administration for Large Scale Active Forest Management Activities. Disaster Funds Will Be Used by NFF to Solicit and Manage Contracts to Complete Activities.
