Agreement Provides for Repairs to a Road That Is Essential to the Forest Service and Scott County. Work Will Include Replacing Damaged Culverts, Cleaning Out Drainage Lead Off Ditches, Repairing the Road Surface, Reconstructing Roadside Ditches, and Placing Gravel on Miles of Nella Road. This Roadway Is a Major Thoroughfare for District Employees and the Public to Facilitate Timber Harvest and Provide Access for Prescribed Fire, Emergency Services and Wildfire Response, Recreation, and Other Public Access. the Forest Service's Requirement to Construct and Maintain an Adequate System of Roads and Provides for the Cooperation With Local Governmental Agencies to Accomplish That Work. This Will Allow the Forest Service to Progress Towards Meeting the Goals of Expanding American Timber Production. It Ensures the Forest Service Transportation System Remains Open and Safe for Public Use. the Forests Do Not Have the Equipment, Skills, or Manpower to Complete This Work In-house. Cooperating With County Government Allows Personnel to Focus on Core Operational Priorities While Ensuring Continuous Compliance With All Regulations. Additionally, Outsourcing Eliminates the Burden of Equipment Procurement, Upkeep, and Operational Training, Reducing Long-term Maintenance Costs and Resource Allocation Challenges. Proactive Road Maintenance and Repair Also Prevents Costly Emergency Road Repair and Reconstruction Costs, Allowing Routine Timber Haul, Public Traffic, and Access for Emergency Services to Continue Without Interruption.
