This Agreement Will Contribute to Improving Aquatic Lake and Watershed Habitats by Restoring Hydrologic Connectivity in the Woman Lake Chain of Lakes, Mississippi River Within the Boundaries of the Cass County and the Chippewa National Forest. Current Outlet Structure Is Failing, as Are the Bridge and Abutments. the Lake Outlet Structure Has Been a Barrier to Fish Movement Since Its Installation. Private Landowner Is Conducting the Bridge Removal, Followed by Local Partner Construction of the Fish Passage Project; Landowner Will Replace the Bridge.this Project Will Benefit the Chippewa National Forest Lands Primarily in the Realm of Aquatic Ecology. the Project Will Benefit Stream and River Fish Communities (sport and Non-sport Fishes) by Restoring Natural Fish Migration Dynamics at the Site of a Former Barrier. the Watershed Includes 55 Different Fish Species. While Restoration of Connectivity Has Immediate and Obvious Benefits for the Fishery, Additional Benefits Include Restored Upstream Transport Dynamics of Native Mussels Species and a Return to More Natural Fluvial Geomorphology in the Boy River. Project Will Have a Net Zero Impact on Invasive Species Dispersal.minnesota Department of Natural Resources Performs Site Inspections on Project Locations as Part of the Ownership and Maintenance Responsibilities, Including Water Levels. This Ensures Project Benefit Delivery Is Maintained.
