The Wood Innovations Grant Program Supports Projects That Will Substantially Expand and Accelerate Wood Products Markets, Wood Energy Markets, and Wood Manufacturing Facilities Throughout the United States to Support Active Forest Management on National Forest System and Other Forest Lands. National Focus Areas Include Mass Timber, Wood Energy, and Technological Development That Supports Active Forest Management and Wildfire Fuel Reduction. Activities to Be Funded Include, But Are Not Limited to, Costs Associated With the Purchase and Installation of Wood Processing Equipment, Wood Energy System or Wood Manufacturing Facility Design And/or Engineering, and Deliverables to Overcome Key Hurdles to Domestic Timber Market Growth. the Program Stimulates Rural Economies, Supports Active Forest Management and Creates and Retains Rural Jobs. Plans to Construct a Facility in Montana That Will Support Long-term Management of Forest Lands. Aurora Will Create a New Market for Domestic Woody Biomass, Reduce Hazardous Fuels on Forest Lands, Reduce Forest Management Costs for Landowners, and Promote the Economic and Environmental Health of Surrounding Communities, Including Wood Industry Partners. This Proposal Seeks Funding for the Design, Engineering, and Permitting of Aurora First Module. Aurora Will Be Constructed on a 50 Acre Site at Montana Connections Targeted Economic Development District Subdivision in Silver Bow County, Near the Intersection of Interstate 90 and Interstate 15. Selected for Its Strategic Advantages, the Site Is in Proximity to Abundant Domestic Woody Biomass Feedstock, Sawmills, Existing Infrastructure, and a Skilled Local Workforce. the Project Will Also Leverage the Sites Proximity to Disadvantaged Communities in Anaconda and Butte, Supporting Our Commitment to Workforce Development and Community Engagement. Aurora Will Deploy Commercially Proven, Proprietary Technology That Uses High-temperature Pyrolysis and Gasification to Convert Woody Biomass Into Renewable Diesel and Biochar. the Biochar Will Then Be Sent to Our Facility for Conversion Into High-quality Graphene Suitable for Many Applications, Including a Novel Energy Storage Product, in Development, That Has the Potential of Replacing Lithium-ion Batteries. Aurora Modular, Scalable Design and Technology Will Allow for Future Expansion of the Site With Phase Two Accommodating Up to 6 Modules.
