The Purpose of This Agreement Is to Support the Forest Conservation Corps (FCC), a Structured Youth Stewardship Program Delivered as a One-day Weekend Program in Spring and Fall and a 4-WEEK Summer Program Across Two Years, Reaching Up to 152 Youth Aged 1416 From Rensselaer County, New York. FCC Participants Will Complete Hands-on Service-learning Projects on Protected Lands, Including Trail Construction, Invasive Species Removal, Deer Exclosure Installation, and Long-term Forest Health Monitoring Such as Hemlock Woolly Adelgid Surveys and Vegetation Assessments. These Projects Are Designed to Meet Immediate Land Management Needs While Introducing Youth to Career Pathways in Environmental Science, Outdoor Labor, and Natural Resources Management.the Cooperator, in Partnership With Local Environmental Educators, Will Guide Youth in Applied Learning on Topics Such as Wildlife Corridors, Macroinvertebrate Surveys, Forest Connectivity, and Practical Navigation Skills. Participants Will Also Gain Transferable Job Skills in Data Collection, Teamwork, Leadership, and Personal Accountability.
